Keith Sheridan Joins NOLHGA as New VP of Accounting & Finance

NOLHGA is pleased to announce that Keith Sheridan, currently the Vice President of General Accounting for Assurant in Atlanta, has agreed to join NOLHGA as our new Vice President of Accounting and Finance. Keith succeeds Paul Peterson, who retired this summer after nearly 30 years with NOLHGA. “Paul’s shoes are big ones to fill, but we’re completely impressed with Keith’s technical accounting abilities, collaborative style, and leadership track record in the life and health insurance industry,” says Mike Heard, NOLHGA’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “I look forward to his energy and talents helping to lead us into the guaranty system’s future.”

Keith has more than 25 years of insurance accounting and reporting experience. In his role with Assurant, he led a team of 27 professionals and oversaw the reporting close; analysis process; and reconciliations for insurance, warranty, and services companies. Prior to that, he was the Vice President and Controller for Nationwide Financial in Columbus, Ohio.

After serving in staff and supervisory roles, Keith joined ING (Voya) in 1999 as an Accounting Manager. He moved to Richmond, Virginia, in 2003 to join Genworth Financial as the Senior Manager of Statutory Accounting and Reporting. In 2007, he joined Swiss Re in Armonk, New York, as the Senior Controller for Admin Re. Keith served as the finance officer, managing regulatory reporting and relationship management of Aurora National Life Assurance Company.

Keith attended Rutgers University School of Business, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He also received his MBA in Finance from Monmouth University. He has two children—a son who is a senior at the University of Georgia and daughter who attends The Ohio State University as a sophomore.

Keith will begin work effective October 17, and he will attend the NOLHGA Annual Meeting that week in Tempe, Arizona. We hope everyone at the meeting will get a chance to meet Keith and welcome him to the guaranty community.
