
Update on NOLHGA's Annual Meeting
NOLHGA's 2012 Annual Meeting will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa on October 2-3, with an MPC meeting scheduled for October 1-2. The meeting planners would like to share a few last-minute details with attendees:
• Don't miss the "Music Under the Stars" reception and dinner at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening (October 2) at the Hyatt's Courtyard Deck. The evening will feature piano virtuoso Walt Wagner, who entertained our guests at the Seattle Annual Meeting in 2010.
• NOLHGA has arranged for a shuttle on Monday evening (October 1) to take guests from the resort to San Antonio's River Walk. The bus departs at 7:00 p.m. and returns at 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Guests interested in taking the shuttle should sign up with De Gadd at [email protected].
• A "Texas Salsa & Margarita" demonstration will be held for guests on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Chef Enrique Perez will give attendees the inside scoop on how to make the best salsa, and guests are encouraged to sample their creations with a few chips and a margarita after class. Please contact De Gadd at [email protected] as soon as possible if you would like to sign up. Everyone who attends will receive a recipe booklet of the salsas made that day.
• The hotel cancellation policy is 72 hours before arrival, so be sure to contact the hotel if you are unable to attend the meeting.
• The $10 resort fee charged to each room provides access to a number of amenities, including wired Internet access; a 15% discount on golf and spa merchandise; unlimited use of the health club; unlimited access to local, 800, or 888 calls and in-state credit card calls; access to the tennis courts, bicycles, chipping and putting greens, golf practice facility, golf club storage, and outdoor activities; coffee, tea, the in-room safe, and local newspaper delivery (Monday through Friday); and complimentary self-parking.

Staff Contact -Janis Potter Named New Illinois GA Executive Director
Janis Potter CPA, MBA, who has served as a Board member and Audit Chair of the Illinois Life & Health Insurance Guaranty Association (ILHIGA) for several years, has been engaged as the new Executive Director for ILHIGA and the Illinois HMO Guaranty Association effective October 1, 2012. She replaces Dan Orth, who will continue to serve as a consultant until December 31, 2012, during the transition period.
Potter previously served as Vice President at Mutual Trust Holding Company & Subsidiaries (Oak Brook, Illinois), holding corporate-wide responsibility to the Board of Directors for the company's network of risk management, control, and governance processes impacting operational, compliance, and financial areas. She successfully led multifaceted, high-priority initiatives including enterprise risk management; business continuity; large-scale projects; corporate governance programs; and legal, regulatory, and compliance initiatives. Additionally, her senior management experience included finance and treasury positions within the financial services industry.
In addition to her tenure on the ILHIGA Board, Potter was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Insurance Security Fund and the North Dakota Life & Health Insurance Guaranty Association. She is a member of the NOLHGA Accounting Issues Committee, the Assessment Data Survey Group, and the Directors & Officers Liability Insurance Subgroup.
