Historian Lynne Olson To Speak at Annual Meeting

Lynne Olson, historian and New York Times bestselling author, will be the luncheon speaker at NOLHGA’s 2017 Annual Meeting, which will be held in Charleston, South Carolina, on October 18 and 19. An MPC meeting will be held on October 17.

Olson is the author of seven books, most of which deal in some way with World War II and Britain’s crucial role in that conflict. Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright has called Olson “our era’s foremost chronicler of World War II politics and diplomacy.” Her latest book, Last Hope Island: Britain, Occupied Europe, and the Brotherhood That Helped Turn the Tide of War, was published in April 2017. Her previous two books, Those Angry Days: Roosevelt, Lindbergh, and America’s Fight Over World War II, 1939–1941 and Citizens of London: The Americans Who Stood with Britain in Its Darkest, Finest Hour, were New York Times bestsellers.

In other speaker news, we regret to inform attendees that Genworth Financial President and CEO Thomas J. McInerney will not be speaking at the meeting.

NOLHGA’s 34th Annual Meeting will take place on October 18–19 at the Belmond Charleston Place. Attendees can register for the meeting and make hotel reservations through the meeting website. The seminar will be held in conjunction with an MPC meeting on October 17. There is no registration fee for the MPC meeting, but attendees must indicate on the registration form that they plan to attend the MPC meeting. More information about Annual Meeting speakers will be released in the next week or so.

NOLHGA has secured a room rate for this meeting of $319/night plus tax (single/double) at the Belmond Charleston Place. Reservations can be made through the meeting website. Please contact Holly Wilding at [email protected] if you have any questions about the Annual Meeting.
