Funding Reports Mailed
Funding reports for July claims were sent to affected guaranty associations the week of August 27. As a reminder, payments should be made as soon as possible to United Teacher Associates (UTA) and within ten days of guaranty association approval of the claims data. Guaranty Associations should e-mail Paul Peterson ([email protected]) indicating the date they sent their payment to UTA.
With the funding of the July claims batch, all pending claims have been processed and mailed to claimants with the following exceptions:
1. manually submitted medicare supplement claims: These claims are currently being processed by UTA and will be completed this month;
2. potential duplicate claims: Those claims that may have been processed by the previous third-party administrator are being researched and will be coordinated with the former administrator to determine if claims have been paid;
3. non-medicare supplement claims: Research on these items is in process. Approximately 11,500 pieces of correspondence have been received. A review of the files will be undertaken in the near future to inventory the items and to determine how to process; and
4. premium refund checks: Refunds are being researched to determine the reason for the refund and whether guaranty associations or the BCL estate should be making the refund payments.

The deadline for making hotel reservations for NOLHGA's 17th Annual Meeting is Monday, September 11. The meeting registration deadline is September 20. Attendees are urged to make their hotel reservations and submit their meeting registrations as soon as possible.
National Affiliated Investors Life (LA)Class 1 Expense Filing Reports Sent
Class 1 expense filing reports were sent to affected guaranty associations on August 2. Inception-to-date expenses as of June 30, 2000 are to be reported. To date, forms have been received from only seven states (AL, LA, MS, OK, SC, SD, and TN).
A summary of filings will be sent to the NAIL liquidator on September 19. Guaranty associations should fax their filing and certification to Paul Peterson at 703.481.5209 no later than September 14. Please contact Mary Ellen Cappetta at 703.787.4114 for another copy of the forms.

Joint NOLHGA, NCIGF, IAIR Seminar
Registration for the November 15-17 Joint Seminar (NOLHGA, NCIGF, and IAIR) is now open to all those interested in attending. Due to meeting room restraints, NOLHGA members are urged to register as soon as possible.
