
MPC Meets in Arizona
The Members’ Participation Council (MPC) conducted a meeting on October 18, 2022, in Tempe, Arizona, and online. The MPC General Session featured an update from the MPC Executive Committee’s Small Block Options Subgroup by Chair Allan Patek (Wisconsin), a report on the MPC Executive Committee’s GA Directory of Third-Party Service Providers from NOLHGA Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mike Heard, and an overview of the NOLHGA member assessment process by NOLHGA Controller Gus Estrada.
The General Session also featured comments from NOLHGA Chair Kermitt Brooks and the NOLHGA Management Report (by NOLHGA President Peter Gallanis and Mike Heard). MPC Chair Margaret Sperry (Rhode Island) updated attendees on the MPC Executive Committee meeting held earlier that day, which included reports from the GA Best Practices and Model Plan of Operations Subgroups; a report on the activity of the MPC Chair Preference Poll Committee; reports on several regional guaranty association meetings; and reports from committee members on feedback they’d received as part of the GA Outreach Program.
The MPC meeting also featured a meeting of the MPC Executive Committee, an educational session entitled More Tech Tools for the GA’s Toolbox (sponsored by the Administrators Education Steering Committee), and the annual meetings of GABC and LTC Re. The meeting was conducted the day before NOLHGA’s 2022 Annual Meeting, which featured closed-session (affected guaranty associations only) presentations by the task forces for Global Bankers Insurance Group (North Carolina and Michigan), North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company (North Carolina), Penn Treaty Network America/American Network Insurance Companies (Pennsylvania), Senior Health Insurance Company of Pennsylvania (SHIP), and Time Insurance Company (Wisconsin).
