January 2007 MPC Meeting Web Page Now Available

NOLHGA's next MPC meeting will take place January 15-17, 2007, at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Fla. Because Orlando is such a popular vacation destination, we expect the rooms at the Hyatt to fill up rather quickly, and we urge all attendees to book their rooms as soon as possible.

The Web page for the meeting features a link to the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Web site as well as other meeting information. To make reservations online, simply select the appropriate dates, enter "g-orgl" under Group/Corporate #, click Check Availability, and select a room.

The NOLHGA room rate for the meeting is $219/night plus tax, and that rate will be available three days before and three days after the meeting, depending on room availability. The cut-off date for reservations is December 14, 2006, but we anticipate that the hotel will fill up well before that date.

Nevada and Wisconsin GAs Name New Administrators

The Nevada Life & Health Insurance Guaranty Association and the Wisconsin Insurance Security Fund both recently appointed new administrators. Louis F. Roggensack joined the Nevada association as administrator and chairman of the board in September 2006. He has almost 40 years of experience in the insurance industry with companies such as Pioneer Mutual Life, Universe Life, and Pacific Guardian Life. He previously served on the board of the Nevada association in the late 1970s and early 1980s. From 1995 to late 2006, he worked at the Nevada Division of Insurance.

Randy Blumer became executive director of the Wisconsin Insurance Security Fund on September 18, 2006. Previously, he served for over 29 years in a number of positions in the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance, including serving as commissioner and, on four separate occasions, as deputy commissioner. Blumer was also active in the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), serving as chair of the Financial Analysis Working Group for over 15 years and on numerous other working groups, task forces, and committees. In 2002 he received the Robert Dineen Award, which is the highest individual honor given by the NAIC for recognition of outstanding achievement as a career insurance regulator.
