Court Enters Order of Liquidation

On October 11, 2022, a hearing took place before Judge Graham Shirley of the Superior Court of Wake County, North Carolina, regarding the petition filed by the Receiver for North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company for an order of liquidation with a finding of insolvency against North Carolina Mutual, which has been in rehabilitation since December 3, 2018. At the hearing, Judge Shirley entered a verbal order granting the petition on the basis that liquidation was necessary for the protection of the company’s policyholders. The order is drafted so it will be effective as of October 31, 2022.
