Assessment and Capacity Reports Posted on NOLHGA's Web Site
Updated versions of NOLHGA's annual Assessment and Capacity Reports have been posted on the NOLHGA Web site. They can be found in the Facts & Figures menu on the homepage (which appears in the Public Content menu once users have logged in) under "Assessment Data."
NOLHGA annually compiles information from guaranty associations on assessment activity--whether assessed, called (billed), or refunded. This information is used to generate various reports reflecting capacity or assessment activity (amounts assessed, called, or refunded) by insolvency, state, year, or account. Please note that all amounts are in the thousands.
The reports cover the period from 1988 to 2007 and contain assessment information on approximately 200 insolvent companies. If any guaranty association personnel note an error in the data, please submit corrected information to Paul Peterson at [email protected] or 703.787.4119.

After years of making periodic changes to the format of its national meetings, the NAIC plans to shift to a schedule of three national meetings per year in 2010. The first two meetings for 2010 are scheduled for March 27-30 and August 14-17. The third meeting date has yet to be announced.
The NAIC's new meeting schedule is available online. This three-meeting schedule will be supplemented, going forward, with an annual Executive Committee Retreat in July and a Commissioner's Conference in October.
The NAIC's 2008 Winter National Meeting in Dallas is scheduled for December 4-8.

The November 2008 elections included five insurance commissioner races, with new commissioners elected in three states. In Delaware, Karen Weldin Stewart will replace Matt Denn as commissioner (Denn has been elected to serve as Delaware's Lieutenant Governor). In North Carolina, Wayne Goodwin will replace Jim Long, who declined to run for reelection after serving 24 years as North Carolina's Insurance Commissioner. In Montana, Monica Lindeen will replace State Auditor John Morrison, who is leaving office due to term limits. Incumbent commissioners in Washington (Mike Kreidler) and North Dakota (Adam Hamm) were elected for another term.
