Staff Contact - Consumers United Insurance Company (Del.)Parkside Property Sold; Distribution Anticipated
As reported at the Las Vegas MPC meeting on October 25, 2004, one of the last remaining assets in the CUIC estate has been liquidated. The asset, which was actually collateral for a mortgage held by the CUIC estate, was the parcel of D.C. real estate known as "Parkside" that has been the subject of litigation over the last few years. In September, the property sold for $11.1 million pursuant to a court-approved bidding agreement; closing took place in October. The estate netted just over $6 million after the transfer tax, broker's fees, legal fees, and other closing costs. The receiver recently confirmed that a distribution to the guaranty associations of $4 million will be made no later than December 15. Individual guaranty association amounts are not yet available.
