Weekly Wire Via E-mail

Thanks to all who have returned their surveys regarding receiving the Weekly Wire via e-mail. Prior to the survey, approximately 500 recipients received the Weekly Wire via fax. As of today's distribution only about 50 will still receive the Weekly Wire by fax, with 450 opting for e-mail receipt. Previously the Weekly Wire was faxed over the weekend to recipients; by utilizing e-mail, NOLHGA is now able to get it to readers on Friday afternoon. As his been the case for almost a year, the Weekly Wire is posted to the confidential section of the NOLHGA Website to allow our members access by noon on Friday; prior to its e-mail distribution. Those who have any problems receiving the Weekly Wire should contact Pete Marigliano at 703.787.4106.

Proof of Claim Filed

As discussed at its May 10, 2001 MPC Task Force Roundtable Meeting, Madison National may be willing to reinsure individual life policies held by some American Chambers affected guaranty associations. Rather than having several states contacting Madison National on an individual basis, it may be more efficient to coordinate the interested states through NOLHGA. Please contact Meg Melusen at 703.787.4130 by Wednesday, May 30 with the pertinent information regarding the number and type of policies to be reinsured, as well as their face amounts.

Additionally, Anne Hancock's schedule has been modified slightly from the report given at the MPC: She will be in Westlake May 22-24; she will not be Westlake the week of June 4 as previously reported. She can be reached by cell phone or e-mail from May 25 - June 7, depending on her travel schedule.

Annual Request for Assessment Information

The annual request for assessment information (assessed, called, refunded) was sent out earlier this week via e-mail to all guaranty associations. Attached to the e-mail was a memo explaining the process as well as an excel spreadsheet to be completed and returned to Karen Early at [email protected] no later than June 30, 2001. Note the request is for 2000 assessment information only. For those without e-mail, a disk with the excel spreadsheet was sent by regular mail along with the memo explaining the process.

Any questions regarding the process, or any problems opening the e-mail should be directed to Paul Peterson at 703.787.4119 or via e-mail at [email protected].
