FBI Agent Added to Cyber Panel at Legal Seminar

Supervisory Special Agent Eric Shiffman, supervisor of the FBI’s Chicago cyber intrusion squad, will join a panel of attorneys at NOLHGA’s 2017 Legal Seminar in a lively discussion about how to be prepared for a cyberattack. Along with attorneys Mark Thibodeaux and Matt Gatewood of Eversheds Sutherland, Agent Shiffman will discuss 10 steps that workplaces can take to better prepare for a cyberattack and 3 things that should be avoided.

As cyberattacks continue to affect all industries and present new, unexpected threats, and with the expansion of new technology and the electronic data it creates, no one wants to find that they are unprepared for a cyberattack after the attack occurs. Being prepared to manage the problem, should it arise, can help keep a situation from becoming a full-blown financial, reputational, regulatory, and legal crisis. Seminar attendees can expect “war stories” as well as examples of how cyber issues have played out in courts in recent data breach cases.

“The Path Forward in a Change Environment”--NOLHGA’s 25th Legal Seminar--will be held on July 20–21, 2017, at the Ritz-Carlton, Chicago. An MPC meeting is scheduled for July 19. NOLHGA has secured a room rate for this meeting of $265/night plus tax (single/double) at the Ritz-Carlton. Reservations can be made online at the Ritz-Carlton, Chicago or by contacting the hotel at 312.266.1000 and requesting the NOLHGA rate. Please contact Meg Melusen at [email protected] if you have any questions.
