Company Ordered into Liquidation

Universal Health Care Insurance Company, Inc., a health-care insurer domiciled in Florida, will be placed in liquidation on April 1, 2013, by order of the Florida receivership court. The company was placed into rehabilitation on March 22, 2013.

The company had earlier been placed in rehabilitation in 2007 and was released from oversight later that same year. A NOLHGA task force was appointed at the time, and the task force has been reconstituted since then. The current task force is chaired by Mike Marchman (Georgia) and includes Mike Surguine (Arizona), Andrea Bowers (South Carolina), William Falck (Florida), Rusty Haydel (Mississippi), Lou Roggensack (Nevada), Lowell Miller (North Carolina), and Joe Horvath (Pennsylvania). A task force meeting will be held at the April MPC meeting in Salt Lake City on April 10 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., and all affected associations (we believe the following associations are the only ones that may be affected: Arizona, the District of Columbia, Mississippi, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina) are encouraged to attend.
