Legal Seminar Hotel Rooms Available, Expected to Go Quickly

Hotel rooms for NOLHGA's 15th Annual Legal Seminar and the MPC meeting that will precede it are now available for reservations. The host hotel for the meetings is San Francisco's beautiful Stanford Court Hotel, conveniently located downtown on Nob Hill and close to the cable cars, the Financial District, Union Square, and Chinatown.

The Legal Seminar will be held on July 12 and 13, 2007, and the MPC meeting is scheduled for July 10 and 11. Major League Baseball will hold its 2007 All-Star Game in San Francisco on July 10, and the hotel anticipates that rooms will fill up quickly due to the game. Attendees are therefore encouraged to book their rooms as soon as possible.

The special NOLHGA room rate (available for the entire week and weekend) is $199/night, and reservations can be made by phone at 415.989.3500 (online registration should be available next week). If you book now for an extended stay, weekend rates may be even less than the NOLHGA rate. If you have any questions about the Legal Seminar, please contact Meg Melusen at [email protected].

Escrow Account Reconciliation Distributed to Affected GAs

A reconciliation of the NOLHGA LHICA escrow account was completed as of December 31, 2006, along with a reallocation of prior early access payments received from the estate. As in the past, the reconciliation settles all premium collections and claim funding transactions along with reinsurance activities.

A memo with several schedules was sent to affected state guaranty associations on March 6, 2007, via e-mail. Before the funds can be distributed, several guaranty associations must remit funds to the NOLHGA LHICA escrow account. These associations are: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Kansas, Maryland, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Wire transfer and check payment instructions were included in the memo, and prompt payment is greatly appreciated.

Any questions concerning the reconciliation should be sent to Paul Peterson at [email protected].
