Final Settlement Agreements Reached

Final settlement agreements have been entered into with the receiver of BCL and Statesman resolving disputes regarding the offsetting of guaranty association administrative expense claims with post-liquidation premiums. Affected guaranty associations will receive an e-mail from Paul Peterson in the near future containing copies of the settlement agreements along with participation certificates that must be completed by each association; guaranty associations affected by both insolvencies must complete separate participation certificates for each.

Deadline for MPC Meeting Hotel Reservations Nears

The deadline for making hotel reservations for the next MPC meeting, which will be held February 17-19 at the Astor Crowne Plaza - French Quarter in New Orleans, La., is January 27. Meeting attendees should make reservations before this date to ensure that they receive the NOLHGA room rate of $199. Club Level rooms can be reserved at a rate of $239 (subject to availability), and all room rates will be honored February 14-22, 2003.

The meeting page also includes an on-line meeting registration section and a preliminary schedule for committee and task force meetings and the general session (in the "Meeting Information" section). Status reports and other meeting materials should be available the first week of February, and attendees will be notified when new information is posted on the meeting Web page.

Web Site Workshop Scheduled for New Orleans MPC Meeting

After receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback on the Web site workshops held at the Chicago MPC meeting in August 2002, the Administrators' Education Steering Committee has scheduled another workshop to be held in conjunction with the February MPC meeting in New Orleans.

The workshop will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17, and will cover the following topics: (i) an introduction of new content on the NOLHGA Web site (excluding the state guaranty association Web sites, which will be addressed in a separate presentation on February 18) and an overview of all content on the site; (ii) a quick review of navigation techniques for the site; (iii) a discussion of the results of the Web site user survey NOLHGA recently conducted; and (iv) a brief overview of Information Resource Center (IRC) content and navigation techniques.

The workshop will be "hands on," with groups of two or three attendees sharing a computer so that they can navigate their way through the site along with the presenters. Questions about the site and suggestions on improving it are encouraged.
