CoOportunity Health (Iowa)
Liquidation Order Approved
On February 24, 2015, the Polk County, Iowa, District Court approved the liquidation order for CoOportunity Health, a Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP) health insurer based in Iowa. The order is effective February 28, 2015.
Since the company was placed in receivership in late 2014, approximately 80,000 policyholders have canceled their coverage, but almost 29,000 policyholders remain. The Iowa Division of Insurance has encouraged these policyholders to find replacement coverage as soon as possible. The Nebraska and Iowa guaranty associations will be triggered by the liquidation to provide coverage.
