Expense and Claims-Paid Reports Due by March 1

As reported in the February 8 issue of the Wire, guaranty associations' inception-to-date (as of December 31, 2001) expense and claims-paid reports are due March 1. Guaranty Associations To Receive $2.63 Million

NOLHGA's KCL task force has reached agreement with Jefferson-Pilot on the amount due to guaranty associations for interest on policy loans the guaranty associations funded from 1997 through 2000. As part of updating the guaranty associations' claims last year, the task force was advised by PricewaterhouseCoopers that Jefferson-Pilot owed the associations interest on the policy loans. The task force notified Jefferson-Pilot of the deficiency. Jefferson-Pilot agreed that there was a deficiency but questioned the task force's calculation of the amount. After further discussions, the task force and Jefferson-Pilot agreed that $2.63 million should be refunded to the guaranty associations. NOLHGA expects to receive the money within the next week and will allocate the payment among the guaranty associations based on the amount of policy loans each guaranty association funded.

New Switchboard Hours for NOLHGA

As you may recall from last week's Wire, Joyce Fleming, NOLHGA's receptionist, has left to pursue other opportunities. NOLHGA's main switchboard will now operate from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Eastern time. Prior to 9:30 a.m. and after 4:00 p.m., the "General" mailbox will be checked periodically for voicemail messages, which will be forwarded to the appropriate staff member.

For members calling the main switchboard number (703.481.5206), there is an option to connect to a staff member's direct dial line; the three-digit extension is simply the last three digits of a staff person's direct dial number. Callers not knowing the direct dial number can select an option that allows them to spell the staff person’s last name.
