Petition for Liquidation Filed

On January 29, 2015, Iowa Insurance Commissioner Nick Gerhart, as Rehabilitator of CoOportunity Health, filed a petition for liquidation of CoOportunity Health with the Rehabilitation Court in Des Moines, Iowa. A hearing on the liquidation petition has been set for February 24, 2015. It is anticipated that a liquidation order will be entered with an effective date of February 28, 2015. Notices of the liquidation petition and likely timing have been made.

The website for the April 7–9, 2015, MPC meeting in Austin has gone live. The site offers online registration and hotel reservations as well as other meeting information, including news of an evening of entertainment being hosted by the Texas guaranty association.

NAIC’s Receivership & Insolvency Task Force Announces New Roster

California (Commissioner Dave Jones) was named the new Chair of the NAIC’s Receivership & Insolvency Task Force (RITF). Delaware (Commissioner Karen Weldin Stewart) will serve as Vice Chair, and the rest of the task force will be made up of Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, and Washington.
