April MPC Meeting Web Page Goes Live
The Web page for NOLHGA's April 18-20, 2007, MPC meeting in Philadelphia is now available. The page features a link to the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing (the host hotel) as well as online registration and other meeting information.
The NOLHGA room rate for the meeting is $189/night plus tax, and the "Hotel Information" section of the meeting Web page features a link that allows attendees to book their room(s) online and obtain the special NOLHGA rate. The cut-off date for hotel reservations is March 28.

As reported at the Orlando MPC meeting in January 2007, the ACLIC Task Force has requested that NOLHGA update the financial information related to claims and expenses paid by the guaranty associations affected by the American Chambers insolvency. Each affected association has received a memorandum by e-mail requesting that claims and expense data be submitted to NOLHGA through the NOLHGA Web site proof of claims system by February 9, 2007.
Please note that the task force is only seeking financial data from January 1, 2005, through June 30, 2006, as an update to the figures collected for inception through December 31, 2004. If there are any questions, please contact Meg Melusen or Gus Estrada at 703.481.5206.
Task Force Chair - Chuck Gullickson; Staff Contact -Conflicts Surveys and Antitrust Certifications Due February 19
As part of NOLHGA's annual compliance regimen, NOLHGA staff is required each year to survey and obtain responses from all NOLHGA personnel and representatives concerning compliance with NOLHGA's Conflicts and Antitrust Policies. The Conflicts Policy and the 2007 questionnaire were mailed on January 26, 2007, to all NOLHGA Board members, staff, and consultants and to all persons serving on any NOLHGA committee or task force. NOLHGA's Antitrust Policy and the 2007 certification forms were simultaneously sent to all of the NOLHGA personnel and representatives referenced above and to all guaranty association administrators. As is the case with NOLHGA's Conflicts Policy, the Antitrust Policy requires an annual certification of compliance from all recipients.
Please take a few minutes to review these materials and return the completed forms via regular mail, fax (703.481.5209), or e-mail to Aimee Hoffman ([email protected]) at NOLHGA no later than February 19. The forms should only take a few minutes to complete, and your timely response is very important. Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

NOLHGA has updated its state guaranty association law summary reports to reflect legislative changes that took effect between June 30 and December 31, 2006. The Web page also reflects changes adopted by Michigan in early January 2007 based on the current NAIC Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association Model Act; its new guaranty association law became effective on January 10. In addition, based on suggestions made by NOLHGA Web site users, NOLHGA added each state's definition of "member insurer" to the "Triggers" section, which already incorporates the definitions of "insolvent insurer" and "impaired insurer."
The Guaranty Association Law Summaries are available under "Facts & Figures" on the homepage of NOLHGA's Web site and are also accessible under the "Member Resources" section after users have logged in. Users can generate individual state reports by choosing from the "Law Summaries by State" drop-down menu. Alternatively, the summaries can be viewed and printed by selecting a specific report from the "Law Summaries by Provision" drop-down menu, which lists all state provisions by topic. Finally, the Guaranty Association Laws page provides users with state guaranty association contact information as well as links, where applicable, to the state guaranty association's Web site and the corresponding state insurance department's site.
