Receiver Seeks Approval for Distribution
As a next step in the winding down of this estate, the CUIC Receiver filed a petition on December 16, 2011, seeking approval of a distribution to the guaranty associations in the amount of $75,758.76, which would bring each affected state to a 32.5% recovery from the estate for policy-level claims. Any objections to the distribution must be filed by January 25, 2012, and a show cause hearing is scheduled for January 31. Contact Meg Melusen at NOLHGA for a copy of the court filings.

NOLHGA's state guaranty association law summary reports are now current through December 31, 2011, reflecting legislative changes that took effect this year. The GA Law Summaries are available under Facts & Figures on the homepage of NOLHGA's Web site in addition to being accessible under the "Member Resources" section in the password-protected portion of the site.
Users can generate individual state reports by choosing from the "Law Summaries by State" drop-down menu. Alternatively, the summaries can be viewed and printed by selecting a specific report from the "Law Summaries by Provision" drop-down menu, which lists all states by topic. Finally, the guaranty association law summary reports provide users with state guaranty association contact information as well as links, where applicable, to the guaranty association's Web site and the corresponding state insurance department's site. Changes or corrections should be submitted to Meg Melusen at [email protected].
