During the week of December 14, 2003, NOLHGA received $386,711.85 from ReliaStar Life Insurance Company. The payment represents a commutation of the reinsurance recoverable assigned to NOLHGA by the Bankers Commercial estate. NOLHGA plans to distribute the funds to affected guaranty associations by year-end.

During the week of December 14, 2003, NOLHGA filed an omnibus proof of claim with the liquidator on behalf of the 50 affected guaranty associations in the Reliance liquidation. The proof of claim was generally in the form circulated to those guaranty associations last fall. If any associations would like a copy of the proof of claim before the next MPC meeting, where it will be distributed, please contact De Gadd at [email protected] or 703.787.4121 for a copy.
Task Force Chair - Tad Rhodes; Staff Contact -MPC Meeting Registration & Reservation Deadline in Early January
The deadline for registering and making hotel reservations for the upcoming MPC meeting, which will be held February 16-18, 2004, in Naples, Fla., is January 9, 2004. Please be sure to make your reservations and register for the meeting before this date.
The meeting Web page features contact information for the hotel as well as an online registration form. The page also includes links for travel and other meeting details.
A preliminary meeting schedule will be posted on the Web page in early January. Tentatively, the Accounting Issues Committee meeting will be held the afternoon of February 16, with task force and committee meetings on February 17 and the general session on the morning of February 18. Status reports and other meeting materials should be available in late January, and registered attendees will be notified when new information is posted.

There will be no NOLHGA Wire for the next two weeks (December 26, 2003, and January 2, 2004). The NOLHGA office will close at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, and will be closed December 25 and 26 for the Christmas holiday. The NOLHGA office will also close at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, and will be closed January 1 and 2 for the New Year's holiday. The NOLHGA staff wishes everyone a happy and safe holiday season.
