Annual Meeting to Feature Updates on Penn Treaty Receivership

NOLHGA’s 2017 Annual Meeting, which will be held in Charleston, South Carolina, on October 18 and 19, will feature a number of presentations to update guaranty system members on the status of the Penn Treaty/ANIC receivership. In addition to the annual Major Receivership Briefing on October 18, the meeting will also include a status report on TPA operations at Penn Treaty and a presentation on LTC Re, the captive insurer created to coordinate the orderly runoff of Penn Treaty/ANIC LTC business on behalf of the guaranty associations, by Eric Rangen, who serves as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of LTC Re.

NOLHGA’s 34th Annual Meeting will take place on October 18–19 at the Belmond Charleston Place. Attendees can register for the meeting and make hotel reservations through the meeting website. The registration fee for the meeting is $650 for members and $775 for non-members. The seminar will be held in conjunction with an MPC meeting on October 17. There is no registration fee for the MPC meeting, but attendees must indicate on the registration form that they plan to attend the MPC meeting.

NOLHGA has secured a room rate for this meeting of $319/night plus tax (single/double) at the Belmond Charleston Place. Arizona Seeks Guaranty Fund Executive Director--$80,000–$115,000 Annually

The Arizona Department of Insurance is seeking a seasoned professional with expertise in insurance, finance, and law to direct, manage, administer, and supervise all operations of the Arizona Life and Disability Insurance Guaranty Fund and the Arizona Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Fund (Arizona Guaranty Funds). Collectively, the Arizona Guaranty Funds step into the shoes of insolvent insurance companies to pay obligations within statutory limitations.

The Executive Director oversees accounting, auditing, and claims adjuster staff and contractors; reviews and negotiates complex risk transfer proposals; manages fund resources and calculates and levies assessments on member insurers; reviews complex policy coverage and claim subrogation issues; represents Arizona in nationwide conferences; and makes sound recommendations to the boards and efficiently executes their decisions.

We expect that candidates will possess substantial experience as an attorney, senior accountant, or executive involved in operating or overseeing the financial and regulatory compliance of insurance companies or similar risk-bearing enterprises, or experience managing guaranty fund or insurance receivership/liquidation operations.
