"GAs & the Media" Presentation Slated for Annual Meeting

NOLHGA's 25th Annual Meeting will feature a lively presentation on the public relations challenges facing the guaranty system and possible solutions to these challenges. The presentation, conducted by Charlie Richardson of Baker & Daniels and Diane Tomb of B&D Consulting, is scheduled for the morning of October 8.

Charlie Richardson is a partner in the Washington, D.C., office of Baker & Daniels and is a senior advisor in B&D Consulting, the firm's national advisory and advocacy division. He chairs the firm's Insurance and Financial Services Practice Group, which focuses on corporate, regulatory, legislative, transactional, and insolvency matters involving the insurance and banking industries. He has represented NOLHGA as its legal counsel in several insolvencies since 1990 and has twice served as a project manager on NOLHGA Insolvency Task Forces. He is a member of NOLHGA's Legal Committee and chaired the 2000 Legal Seminar and 2004 Guaranty System Summit.

Diane Tomb, a senior advisor with B&D Consulting, is a seasoned communications leader with more than 20 years of experience in the public affairs arena. Prior to entering private practice, she was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate and served as the Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for Public Affairs from 2001-2004. Earlier in her career, she was the Senior Vice President for Communications at the Fannie Mae Foundation; a Vice President of Public Affairs at Burson-Marsteller; and held senior positions on presidential and gubernatorial campaigns, as well as on the White House staff, from 1986-1992. As a chief spokesperson for federal government agencies, nonprofits, and U.S. presidential and statewide political campaigns, she has been quoted extensively in the New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal, as well as local news outlets.
