MPC Meets in August

The Members’ Participation Council (MPC) conducted an online meeting on August 3, 2021. In addition to the task force report below, the MPC General Session featured closed-session (affected guaranty associations only) presentations by the task forces for Penn Treaty Network America/American Network Insurance Companies (Pennsylvania), Global Bankers Insurance Group (North Carolina and Michigan), Time Insurance Company (Wisconsin), and Senior Health Insurance Company of Pennsylvania (SHIP).

The General Session also included presentations on the activities of the Administrators Education Steering Committee (by Chair Janis Potter (Illinois)) and NOLHGA’s Diversity & Inclusion Focus Group (by Chair Susan Voss (Nebraska)). NOLHGA President Peter Gallanis provided the President’s Report, and MPC Chair Tom Sullivan briefed attendees on MPC Executive Committee activity.

The MPC meeting also featured a meeting of the MPC Executive Committee. The Administrators Education Steering Committee conducted a presentation the following day on Board of Directors engagement. The presentation, which was moderated by Janis Potter (Illinois), featured a report from the MPC Executive Committee’s Best Practices Subgroup by Bob Burke (Vermont) as well as a session where attendees dispersed to breakout rooms to discuss the issue and then shared their suggestions for enhancing Board member engagement with the entire audience.

Jana Lee Pruitt To Succeed Tom Peterson at KY GA

The Kentucky Life & Health Insurance Guaranty Association is pleased to announce that it has named Jana Lee Pruitt as the association’s incoming Executive Director as of January 1, 2022. Jana Lee will succeed Tom Peterson, who has decided to retire at the end of 2021.

Jana Lee is familiar to many in the guaranty association family. She has been involved in guaranty association matters across the country in her various roles at the ACLI since the late 1980s. She brings a deep understanding of the role and responsibilities of a guaranty association, and she will maintain a local presence in Kentucky.

Jana Lee expects to attend NOLHGA’s Annual Meeting in Nashville this October with Tom. We hope others attending the meeting will have the opportunity to meet Jana Lee (or reintroduce themselves) in Nashville and welcome her to the guaranty association family. For anyone who would like to reach out to Jana Lee before October, her new guaranty association e-mail address is [email protected].
