Escrow Fund Distribution Scheduled for Next Week
NOLHGA has received payments from all guaranty associations owing funds to the NOLHGA escrow account regarding the December 31, 2006, reconciliation and true-up. We expect to distribute funds to those guaranty associations that are owed funds from the escrow account during the week of April 8, 2007. Task Force Chair - Linda Becker; Staff Contact -Negotiation Strategies and Outcomes at 2007 Legal Seminar
Antonio C. Piazza, an expert in alternative dispute resolution, will discuss negotiation strategies and outcomes at NOLHGA's upcoming Legal Seminar in July. Piazza, a partner at the San Francisco firm of Gregorio, Haldeman, Piazza, Rotman & Matityahu, specializes in negotiating business transactions that have come to an impasse and has successfully mediated over 3,000 major disputes throughout the United States and internationally. His awards include a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American College of Civil Trial Mediators.
NOLHGA's 15th Annual Legal Seminar is scheduled for July 12-13, 2007, in San Francisco, with an MPC meeting scheduled for July 11. Both meetings will take place at San Francisco's Stanford Court Hotel, and reservations can be made by calling 415.989.3500 or by booking online. A special rate of $199/night is available for the entire week and weekend. The hotel anticipates filling up quickly due to Major League Baseball's All-Star Game, which will be held early in the week, so we encourage attendees to make their reservations as soon as possible.
Staff Contact -April 2007 MPC Briefing Book Posted
The briefing book for the upcoming MPC meeting, which will be held April 19-20, 2007, in Philadelphia, Pa., has been posted on the meeting Web page. Users may need to log in after clicking on the link to access the file, which can be found in the "Meeting Resources" section.
Due to the confidential nature of the briefing materials, only NOLHGA Board members, guaranty association administrators, members of guaranty association boards, and other association representatives who will attend the meeting as the designated voting guaranty association representative can access the briefing book. Other guaranty system representatives who need a particular insolvency status report should contact the appropriate NOLHGA staff contact.
The briefing book includes the meeting schedule, an attendee list, status reports for the upcoming meeting, and other meeting materials. It is in PDF format, and users will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print the materials. Acrobat Reader is available free from Adobe.
