Conference on FEC Distribution

The California Commissioner of Insurance has agreed to meet with representatives of NOLHGA and other ELIC creditors to discuss issues that have delayed a distribution of about $30 million to ELIC creditors. The distribution is to be made by the Commissioner, as conservator of the ELIC estate, under the terms of a reorganization plan for ELIC's parent company, First Executive Corporation, approved by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Los Angeles. Although the ELIC conservation court approved a distribution of these sums on September 23, 1999, certain issues regarding the terms of the bankruptcy court's reorganization plan have delayed a distribution. Commissioner Harry Low has agreed to meet with representatives of ELIC creditors on January 25, 2001, to discuss the issues.
