MPC Briefing Book & Other Materials Now Available
The briefing book for the upcoming MPC meeting, which will be held May 16-18, 2005, at the Four Seasons Hotel Austin in Austin, Tex., has been posted on the meeting Web page. Users will need to log in after clicking on the link to access the file, which can be found in the "Meeting Resources" section.
In addition to the briefing book, the agenda for the May 17 MPC Executive Committee meeting has been posted, as have the minutes from the previous committee meeting. All NOLHGA members are encouraged to review these materials and attend the MPC Executive Committee meeting.
Due to the confidential nature of the briefing book and MPC Executive Committee materials, only NOLHGA Board members, guaranty association administrators, members of guaranty association boards, and other association representatives who will attend the meeting as the designated voting guaranty association representative can access the materials. Other guaranty system representatives who have a need for a copy of the meeting agenda or a particular insolvency status report should get in touch with the appropriate NOLHGA staff contact.
The briefing book includes the meeting schedule, an attendee list, status reports for the upcoming meeting, and other meeting materials. The book and the MPC Executive Committee materials are in PDF format, and users will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print the files. Acrobat Reader is available free from Adobe.

Jorge Gomez, insurance commissioner for the state of Wisconsin, has agreed to speak at NOLHGA's 13th Annual Legal Seminar in Park City, Utah, this summer. Commissioner Gomez has headed the Wisconsin department since 2003 and serves on the board of the Wisconsin Insurance Security Fund. His legal background prior to being appointed commissioner includes his tenure as vice president and general counsel of United Government Services LLC, a Milwaukee-based Medicare Part A fiscal intermediary. Among his many committee responsibilities at the NAIC, Commissioner Gomez chairs the Injured Patients and Families Compensation Fund Board and the Senior Issues Task Force, which uniquely qualifies him to participate on the panel discussion of long-term care issues at the Legal Seminar.

Staff Contact -Kentucky Executive Director of Insurance Resigns
On April 26, 2005, Martin Koetters resigned from his position as executive director of the Kentucky Office of Insurance (KOI). The resignation was effective immediately, and the governor has appointed Glenn Jennings, who served as acting executive director of the KOI from December 2003 to July 2004, as the new executive director of insurance. Koetters served as executive director for less than a year following his appointment last July.
In addition to his role as acting executive director, Jennings formerly served as deputy commissioner for health insurance when the agency was the Kentucky Department of Insurance. He has more than 20 years of experience in the health-care field, specializing in financial management and information processing.
