Pacific Life's Sutton to Speak at Annual Meeting

Thomas Sutton, chairman and CEO of Pacific Life Insurance Company, will speak at NOLHGA's 23rd Annual Meeting, which will be held October 10 and 11, 2006, in Dana Point, Calif. He is tentatively scheduled to speak on October 11.

Sutton was elected president and a member of Pacific Life's board of directors in September 1987 and became chairman and CEO in January 1990. Before being elected president, he served in a series of actuarial and management positions in Pacific Life's Life Insurance and Corporate Divisions from 1965 to 1987.

Sutton served as chairman of the American Council of Life Insurers from 1996-1997 and currently serves as a member of the board of directors. He has served alternately as chairman or vice chairman of the Association of California Life and Health Insurance Companies since 1988 and also served as chairman of the Health Insurance Association of America from 1994-1995. He is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.

A preliminary schedule for the Annual Meeting can be found at the joint MPC meeting and Annual Meeting Web page. NOLHGA has scheduled an early close to the meeting--11:00 a.m. local time--to make it easier for attendees to plan their departures. We hope the early adjournment will enable all attendees to stay for the entire meeting and not miss out on the later presentations.

Final Distribution Made

On August 22, 2006, NOLHGA received almost $1.2 million from the NAIL estate. This payment represents the final estate distribution, and the funds should be sent to the guaranty associations within the next week. A copy of the final distribution schedule as calculated by the liquidator will be included with the distribution payment; the schedule also indicates the breakdown of the payment between expense and policy-level claim recoveries. The NAIL closing order and related schedules were sent to guaranty associations via e-mail on July 24.
