Florida CFO Sink to Speak at Annual Meeting
Alex Sink, chief financial officer for the Florida Department of Financial Services, will speak at NOLHGA's 24th Annual Meeting, which will be held October 9-10, 2007, at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island in Amelia Island, Fla.
Sink, who was elected CFO in 2006, is responsible for monitoring the state's fiscal health and managing more than $74 billion in tax revenue coming in and out of state government annually. As a Cabinet officer, the CFO is one of four members of the Financial Services Commission who oversee the appointed commissioners of insurance regulation and financial regulation. As head of the Department of Financial Services, her mission is to help consumers with financial service issues, including banking, securities, and insurance. She is scheduled to speak on the morning on October 10.

The Assumption Reinsurance Agreement transferring SGLIC's major medical lines to New Era includes experience-sharing provisions in effect for the first 18 months after the effective date of the agreement, to be followed by an accounting and true-up consistent with the terms and calculation methodologies set forth in Section 6 of that agreement. On August 1, 2007, NOLHGA received initial true-up accounting data from New Era. Under the terms of the agreement, NOLHGA and the participating guaranty associations have 30 days from receipt to review and audit the true-up calculations, and another 30 days to make the final true-up payments. Final true-up payments will be due October 1.
NOLHGA's SGLIC Task Force is reviewing the true-up data and will provide affected associations with the data and allocation figures as soon as those calculations are complete. In the meantime, please contact Joni Forsythe at 703.787.4103 if you have any questions.
