Wharton Professor to Discuss Systemic Risk at Legal Seminar
Scott E. Harrington, Ph.D., the Alan B. Miller Professor in the Health Care Management and Insurance and Risk Management Departments at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, has agreed to speak at NOLHGA's 19th Annual Legal Seminar in July. He will discuss the implications of the new federal interest in insurance under the Dodd-Frank Act and the key issues regarding implementation of its insurance-related provisions by the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) and the Federal Insurance Office (FIO).
Harrington is an adjunct scholar for health policy at the American Enterprise Institute and a former President of both the American Risk and Insurance Association and the Risk Theory Society. He is a Co-Editor of the Journal of Risk and Insurance and has published widely on the economics and regulation of insurance. Harrington is a frequent speaker on insurance markets, regulation, and public policy and has conducted research, consulted, or served as an expert for many organizations. He has testified before the U.S. House and Senate and before numerous U.S. state legislative and administrative committees.
