States General Life Insurance Company (“States General”) was a Texas domiciled company licensed in 25 states. States General became insolvent and was placed in liquidation by order dated March 9, 2005. The company’s in-force business consisted of a variety of major medical policies, a block of Medicare Supplement business, and group association business that included some dental policies. New Era Life Insurance Company assumed the Medicare Supplement policies as of April 1, 2005, and assumed the major medical policies as of July 1, 2005. The group dental policies were non-renewed on June 30, 2005, and the remaining group association business was terminated by the group associations as of the liquidation order date.
