Company Overview
Kentucky Central Life Insurance Company (KCL), was domiciled in Kentucky and licensed in 48 states and the District of Columbia. The company had a portfolio consisting of participating and non-participating whole life policies, including universal life and a graded premium whole life product; endowment and term insurance; and accident and health coverages. The company also offered individual and group annuities, as well as credit accident and health insurance coverages. Most of KCL’s industrial life policies were transferred to Liberty Life Insurance Company in July of 1991, along with some additional small blocks of business. KCL was placed in rehabilitation in February 1993, and was subsequently placed in liquidation in August 1994. Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Company assumed KCL’s remaining in-force business in May 1995 (see below).
Policy & Claims Administration
Policies of an insolvent company are often transferred to a financially sound insurance company. If policies are not transferred to another company, the policies are continued and claims administered by either the guaranty associations or a third-party administrator (TPA) working on behalf of the associations. Please contact the company/TPA listed below or the guaranty association in your state of residence for more information about your policy. Additional contact information is included to assist insureds whose policies may have been transferred to Liberty Life before KCL was put into liquidation.
