America’s Safety Net

Insurance is a promise to protect, and state life and health insurance guaranty associations have been helping to keep that promise for more than 40 years. Insurance companies rarely fail, but when they do, the guaranty associations are there for policyholders, continuing their coverage and paying claims.

NOLHGA’s mission is to support its member guaranty associations in protecting policyholders in insolvencies, and in responding to external developments so as to promote the values and interests of the life and health insurance guaranty system.

NOLHGA helps its member guaranty associations by pooling resources and coordinating activities so that policyholders receive the help they need as quickly as possible.

By working together through NOLHGA, state guaranty associations reduce the costs of resolving a failed insurer and provide protection to their states’ policyholders as quickly as possible. NOLHGA also serves as the “voice” of the guaranty system, advancing the interests of its member associations with the federal government, the NAIC, international insurance regulators, and other organizations interested in the U.S. guaranty system.
