The Honorable Stuart Palmer (Ret.)
Stuart Palmer had a 22-year career as a Justice of the Illinois Appellate Court and Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois. Throughout his judicial career, Judge Palmer presided over the trial and settlement of many of the most complex matters that came before the courts, including thousands of civil and criminal matters at all stages of litigation. As a chancery judge and an appellate justice, Judge Palmer received consistent high praise for his handling of a wide variety of complex commercial disputes.
Judge Palmer served as a judge for the Illinois First District Appellate Court from 2012–2016. Before that, he presided in the Cook County Circuit Court—he joined the court in 1994 and held assignments in the First Municipal District (1994), Criminal Division (1994–2005), and Chancery Division (2005–2012).
Judge Palmer earned a B.A., cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in1976. He earned his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 1979.
