Service & Early Access Agreements Sent to Affected GAs
On August 31, 2004, NOLHGA sent to the 28 affected guaranty associations information concerning the liquidation plan for LHICA, including a service agreement (with R.N. Swanson & Associates, Inc.) and an early access agreement (with the Pennsylvania liquidator). The MPC Executive Committee has shortened the opt-out period to 10 days for the two agreements, so the opt-out date is September 13. There will be a special teleconference on September 7 at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time, at which the LHICA Task Force and consultants will answer any questions that the associations have about the plan and the two agreements. Directions on how to participate in the conference call were included in the information sent to affected associations.

The Web page for NOLHGA's 21st Annual Meeting, which will be held October 26-27, 2004, at the Four Seasons Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nev., is now available by clicking here. The page features hotel and reservation information, a preliminary schedule of events in PDF format, bios of our featured speakers, MPC meeting information, online registration, and general meeting information. The page also allows users to pay their registration fees online through NOLHGA's secure online payment system, which accepts Visa and MasterCard.
Attendees who wish to pay by check can still register online. Once they have completed the registration form, they can simply print a copy and mail it with a check to NOLHGA. Attendees can also complete the form in the Annual Meeting Registration Brochure, which should arrive in the mail in the next few days. NOLHGA members are cordially invited to attend a reception being hosted by the Alaska Life & Health Insurance Guaranty Association and held in conjunction with the NAIC Fall Meeting. Please join them on Monday, September 13, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the historic 4th Avenue Theatre at 630 W. 4th Avenue, an easy walk from the NAIC meeting venues and downtown hotels. Guaranty association board members and administrators should feel free to invite their spouses, company colleagues, and their state's regulators and/or regulator's representatives.
