Premiums Received from New Era

NOLHGA has received approximately $782,000 from New Era for BCL premium collections covering the period February 1 through May 31, 2002. On June 12, an e-mail message detailing the breakdown of premiums by state and line of business was sent to affected guaranty associations (anyone having difficulty opening the message should contact Paul Peterson at 703.787.4119 or [email protected]). NOLHGA anticipates disbursing the funds within the next week; if you do not receive funds within the next week, please contact Gus Estrada at 703.787.4131 or [email protected].

In addition, NOLHGA recently instructed UTA (United Teacher Associates), the former TPA for the guaranty associations, to remit to NOLHGA approximately $139,000 for miscellaneous funds received by UTA for claims overpayments, duplicate payments, etc., and for the remaining outstanding checks that guaranty associations funded. NOLHGA anticipates receiving the funds in the near future and will then forward the money to the guaranty associations via check, along with reports containing applicable check and claim information. Once completed, this transaction will end all outstanding activity with UTA.
