Staff Contact - Sean McKenna“Lion of Bankruptcy Bar” to Speak at Legal Seminar
Harvey R. Miller, whom the New York Times called the “lion of the bankruptcy bar,” will speak at NOLHGA’s upcoming Legal Seminar in New York. Miller, a partner with the law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP, had been involved in several landmark bankruptcy cases before famously filing the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy petition in September 2008--the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history. At the Legal Seminar, Miller will share his unique perspective on a number of topics, including the potential applicability of “orderly liquidation” under Title II of Dodd-Frank for insurer SIFIs, the utility of “living wills” for insurers, and heightened regulatory attention now being given to many large and complex financial services entities.
NOLHGA’s 22nd Annual Legal Seminar will take place on July 17–18, 2014, at the New York Hilton Midtown. The seminar will be held in conjunction with an MPC meeting on July 15–16. NOLHGA has secured a room rate for these meetings of $259 (single)/$269 (double) per night plus tax, and reservations can be made through the meeting website.
The registration fee for the 2014 Legal Seminar is $850, with a $55 “early bird” discount on all registrations received by June 6 (today); there is no fee to attend the MPC meeting, though some events may be restricted to guaranty association members only.
