Talcott Assumes Life & Annuity Block
On June 14, 2022, Talcott Resolution Life and Annuity Insurance Company entered into an agreement with Time Insurance Company, In Rehabilitation (Time), to directly assume a block of approximately 47,700 life and annuity insurance policies. This business has been 100% reinsured and administered by Talcott since 2001. The assumption agreement was approved by the Receivership Court on June 30 and has an effective date of July 1. Notices will be sent to affected policyholders in the next few weeks.
This is the fifth in a series of assumption transactions that have been completed since the company was placed in rehabilitation in July 2020. The last of the company’s reinsured business will transfer on July 1, leaving only a small block of direct life and health business on the books of Time.

The schedule for the July 27 MPC meeting in Washington, D.C., has been posted on the meeting website (please note that the schedule has been updated since it was first distributed on June 27). To register for the MPC meeting as well as the July 28–29 Legal Seminar/Insolvency Workshop, please visit the website, which also includes the Insolvency Workshop agenda.
As a reminder, the July MPC meeting and Insolvency Workshop will be “hybrid” events, with remote and in-person attendance. The “early bird” fee for in-person attendance at the Workshop is $895 through July 4; registration after July 4 is $925 (with additional fees for guests who wish to attend the Welcome Reception and Luncheon). The fee for virtual attendees is $925. There is no fee to attend the MPC meeting, but attendance for most presentations is restricted to guaranty association representatives.
Please note that the times listed for the MPC General Session presentations are estimates. We will do our best to keep to the posted times, but presentations might start a few minutes early or late depending on how the General Session progresses.
