Michael McDonald Joins NOLHGA Staff

NOLHGA is thrilled to announce that Michael McDonald has joined the NOLHGA staff as Senior Counsel, effective January 19. Before joining NOLHGA, McDonald worked for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) as Financial Policy and Legislative Counsel in its Washington, D.C., office. He previously worked for the D.C. Office of the Chief Financial Officer and the Maryland Attorney General’s Office. He has experience in various legal matters, including government relations, litigation, and transactional work. He received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University and his law degree from The Catholic University of America.

Nevada GA Names Thakar as New Executive Director

The Board of Directors of the Nevada Life & Health Insurance Guaranty Association announced that Todd Thakar will replace Lou Roggensack as the association’s Executive Director. Roggensack, who is retiring this month, served as Executive Director since 2006.

Thakar also serves as the Executive Director of the California Life & Health Insurance Guarantee Association. He is a former Chair of the California and Alaska guaranty associations and served as Vice President, Government Affairs, with Prudential Financial before being named Executive Director of the California association.
