Preliminary Schedule Available for April MPC Meeting

The preliminary schedule for the April 2011 MPC meeting in San Antonio has been posted on the meeting Web page. The file can be found in the “Meeting Resources” section.Attendees should note that in contrast to past MPC meetings, many of the larger task force meetings, as well as the MPC General Session and an Administrators Education Steering Committee presentation on assessments, will take place on the first two days of the meeting (April 4 and 5); smaller task force and committee meetings will be held on Wednesday, April 6. We encourage all attendees to arrive in time for the Monday morning meetings.

The deadline for making hotel reservations for the April 2011 MPC meeting is March 14. Please note that NOLHGA cannot guarantee that rooms will be available up to this deadline. This date is the deadline for receiving the NOLHGA rate of $179/night plus tax (which will be available three days before and after the meeting dates), to the extent rooms remain available in the NOLHGA block. We encourage you to book your room(s) as early as possible.

Leonardi to Head Connecticut Department of Insurance

On February 4, 2011, Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy appointed Thomas B. Leonardi to serve as the new Commissioner of the state Department of Insurance. Leonardi had been Chairman and CEO of Northington Partners, an insurance specialty venture capital and investment banking firm based in Avon, Connecticut.

White Named Head of DISB

On February 14, 2011, William P. White began his tenure as the new Acting Commissioner for the District of Columbia Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB). Appointed February 4 by Mayor Vincent C. Gray, White awaits confirmation by the Council of the District of Columbia.

White, who headed DISB's Captive Insurance Division from 2003 to 2004, had been a consultant with Prism Strategies. He replaces outgoing Commissioner Gennet Purcell.

FDIC Announces Krimminger as General Counsel

On February 4, 2011, FDIC Chairman Sheila C. Bair announced the appointment of Michael H. Krimminger as the agency's new General Counsel. The appointment was unanimously approved by the FDIC Board of Directors.

Krimminger, who spoke at NOLHGA's 2010 Legal Seminar, will be in charge of the FDIC's Legal Division, which is responsible for legal work on regulatory issues as well as FDIC transactions, litigation, and corporate and commercial claims. The Legal Division currently has over 800 employees nationwide.

As Deputy to the Chairman for Policy since 2009, Mr. Krimminger has served as the Chairman's advisor and has directed policy initiatives on a wide variety of banking and financial institution crisis and resolution, mortgage finance, international coordination, capital markets, and legal issues. He has represented the FDIC on several interagency and international working groups to develop improved resolution practices and legislative initiatives to respond to the changing banking environment.
