Legal Seminar Secures Luncheon Speaker

Attendees of this year’s NOLHGA Legal Seminar will be entertained at lunch by Anthony Ponce, host of the Chicago-based podcast Backseat Rider. Ponce, formerly a reporter and weekend morning anchor for Chicago’s NBC-owned WMAQ Channel 5, left his job less than a year ago to start the self-produced podcast, which features interviews with passengers Ponce encounters while driving for Lyft (an Uber-like car service).

Ponce should have some good stories to tell. According to the Chicago Tribune, passengers featured in his podcast include “a woman who detailed how her boyfriend tried to kill her and is now in prison,” and the podcast’s website lists episodes dealing with immigration, social media, celebrity encounters, addiction, family relationships, and more.

“The Path Forward in a Change Environment”--NOLHGA’s 25th Legal Seminar--will be held on July 20–21, 2017, at the Ritz-Carlton, Chicago. An MPC meeting is scheduled for July 19. NOLHGA has secured a room rate for this meeting of $265/night plus tax (single/double) at the Ritz-Carlton. Reservations can be made online at the Ritz-Carlton, Chicago or by contacting the hotel at 312.266.1000 and requesting the NOLHGA rate. Please contact Meg Melusen at [email protected] if you have any questions.
