Legal Seminar Hotel Rooms Now Available

Hotel rooms for NOLHGA’s 27th Legal Seminar, which is scheduled to take place on July 11–12, 2019, at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston, are now available. Rooms can be booked online or by contacting the hotel at 866.540.4417 and requesting the NOLHGA rate.

NOLHGA has secured a room rate for this meeting of $279/night (one queen bed) and $309/night (two double beds or one king bed) plus tax at the Fairmont. In addition to the Seminar, there will be an MPC meeting on July 10.

Missouri GA Seeks Executive Director Candidates

The Missouri Insurance Guaranty Associations—the Missouri Life & Health Insurance Guaranty Association and the Missouri Property & Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association—are seeking a well-qualified candidate to fill the position of Executive Director. The associations are nonprofit, insurance industry–supported organizations that handle and pay the insurance claims of Missouri policyholders if their insurer becomes insolvent.

This is the Chief Executive Officer position, reporting to both Boards of Directors under a Joint Administration Agreement. Duties include:

• Supervise staff in carrying out the duties of the associations and maintain adequate professional staffing during times of varying work activity levels
  
• Coordinate activities with other state guaranty funds through national organizations of state insurance guaranty associations and with court-appointed insurance liquidators
  
• Oversee accounting, auditing, and claims adjuster staff and contractors
  
• Review and negotiate complex risk transfer proposals
  
• Manage the associations’ physical resources and invested assets
  
• Calculate and levy assessments on member insurers
  
• Review complex policy coverage and claim subrogation issues
  
• Some travel required

Candidate must possess substantial insurance and management experience in an insurance company or related setting such as regulatory, legal, or consulting. Desired, but not required, is a background in law or accounting and/or substantial supervisory claims experience in property casualty and life and health claims. Prior experience in an insurance guaranty fund or insurance liquidation setting is a plus. The office of the associations is located in Jefferson City, Missouri. Salary and benefits package is comparable to local insurance industry standards for positions of similar responsibility.
