Final Distribution Made
On December 20, 2005, NOLHGA received approximately $1.5 million as a final distribution from the ILA estate. In order for the funds to be received by guaranty associations before year-end, we will be sending checks (by FedEx) or making wire transfers this week. Distribution schedules and the final estate closing order were e-mailed to all affected guaranty associations on December 13. Associations should contact Gus Estrada ([email protected] or 703.787.4131) if they do not receive the funds by next week. NOLHGA annually compiles information from guaranty associations on assessment activity--whether assessed, called (billed), or refunded. This information is used to generate various reports reflecting capacity or assessment activity (amounts assessed, called, or refunded) by insolvency, state, year, or account (please note that all amounts are in the thousands).
These reports are now available on NOLHGA's Web site in the password-protected extranet. Only guaranty association administrators, guaranty association staff, guaranty association board members, and insurance department personnel are allowed to access this information, which can be found in the "Publications" section under "Special Reports, Documents & Forms."
The reports cover the period from 1988 to 2004 and contain assessment information on approximately 200 insolvent companies. If any guaranty association personnel note an error in the data, please submit corrected information to Paul Peterson at [email protected] or 703.787.4119.

Ernest J. Wright will become executive director of the Connecticut Life & Health Insurance Guaranty Association effective January 1, 2006. He replaces Dick Cooley, who is stepping down after more than 30 years with the association, both on the board and as its only executive director. Wright is the former counsel, vice president, and secretary of the Travelers Life and Annuity Company. He is in the process of establishing telephone, fax, and e-mail services.
